Synonymous with the Painting Industry but why?

​White uniforms often signified union membership.

Painters wearing white outfits became a painting industry standard around the 19th century. It became a sure-fire way to distinguish members of the Allied Trades and International Union of Painters from non-unionized painters. White uniforms also allowed painters to be separate from other trades such as railway workers who typically wore pinstripes and farmers who donned blue or brown.

With major paint brands such as Benjamin Moore and Behr offering more than 100 shades of white, painting contractors choosing a white outfit seems ideal! Also, keep in mind that several other products used by painters, such as caulk, spackle, plaster, drywall repair etc is white as well.
